The 5 Senses on a 5 for Friday!

I'm linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to showcase our week at school.
We are beginning our Science Unit of Study, beginning with the Five Senses.  Take a peek at some of our fun this week.
After reading many books and lots of discussion, we made these potato heads to reinforce the idea of what we use to experience the five senses.  While we were putting this together, we used an actual Mr. Potato Head as our guide.
I love how cute these turned out!
I purchased these flavorings from a grocery store and used them for a "what's that smell" activity.
I soaked cotton balls with the scents and placed them in these containers.
The little learners smelled the cotton balls, and then decided what the smell was.  They found the corresponding picture and marked it off the list.
They loved this activity so much they asked to do it again during free choice time.  L.O.V.E. that!
For our sense of touch, I hid different objects in this feely box.
Little ones reached inside and felt the objects, then they had to describe what they were feeling and then  name it before they pulled it from the box.
We also used this fun game during the week to heighten our sense of touch.
After reading 'It Looked Like Spilled Milk', we discussed how our sense of sight was the only way we could experience clouds.  We can't smell, taste, hear, or touch them.  This really hit home the sense of sight for them.
Then, each little sweetie made their own special cloud picture.  We painted with a mixture of shaving cream and liquid glue.  I love how each one was unique and intentional.
For the sense of hearing, each little one had a plastic egg filled with a different object.  They had to go around and find a partner who had a matching sound.
To check to see if it matched they opened the eggs to see if they were correct.
It was a huge success!

How was your week?  Link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to let us know!

Thanks for reading!  Have a great day.  :)
